STAY IN THE KNOW
Whether you want to inquire about classes or have a question about recital we are happy to answer any questions.
Any interested dancers, ages 7 and up, are welcome and encouraged to join us at our Competition Orientation on Saturday, Sept 21 at 10am. The morning will include an Information Meeting followed by a Dance Session. Any interested dancers should arrive by 10am with their parent(s) or guardian(s)🥰 Once we’ve got everyone up-to-date in the Information Meeting, we’ll get dancing to give us a chance to see everyone moving together.

In Your Dance Bag:
Dance attire:
-Bodysuits and tights are required for all ballet classes, and are a good choice for any class. We recommend that dancers have a black sleeveless bodysuit, as we often use them with costumes for recital.
-Skirts, shorts, and/or leggings are an optional addition, depending on the class.
-Boys are welcome to wear t-shirts or tank tops with shorts, sweatpants, or yoga pants.
-Jewelry and accessories should be kept to a minimum.
-Jeans are NOT appropriate dance attire!
*All dancers should be in dance clothing that is easy to move in and allows teachers to see that they’re moving correctly and safely.
Shoes:
Each dance style has its own requirements in terms of shoes...
Contemporary/Modern is danced in bare feet.
Ballet requires ballet shoes, and Pointe shoes should only be purchased with guidance from the teacher.
Tap requires tap shoes, of course
Jazz shoes are best for Jazz classes, but ballet slippers will work too.
Dancers in Hip Hop should bring clean, indoor runners to class.
Dancers in Primary Combo and Jr Jazz/tap/ballet classes will need tap shoes as well as ballet slippers or jazz shoes,
and our Tots are encouraged to wear ballet slippers.
*Please remember to label all of your shoes.

Water bottle:
Dancers should bring a water bottle of their own to every class. There will be no sharing of water bottles. We do have reusable cups at our water coolers, but help us keep our dishwashing to a minimum by using your own water bottle whenever possible.
Hair Supplies:
Hair must be up and off the face for all dance classes. To be prepared for class, dancers should keep hair elastics, scrunchies, bobby pins, barrettes, or any other supplies they might need in their dance bags.

Where to Get Your Dance Supplies:
We recommend supporting our local dancewear store:
Classique Dancewear, which is located at 322 7th Street South.

-Also, there are lots of shoes available to be sold or passed down as these kiddos just keep on growing! Join our Facebook Group to check in with our little Danceworks family. You may find the shoes you need that way.

-We also have lots of shoes at the studio that we’re willing to sell. Come in and see if we have the size you need, that might just work too.
